Volunteer Registration:
Volunteer Registration opens on August 15th, for the 2025-2026 Season!
Please Note:
• When completing the online Volunteer Registration, it is important you indicate the division(s) AND specific role(s), you are interested in.
• Volunteer requirements vary by role and division.
Volunteer Requirements:
The following provides an overview of volunteer requirements, how often they expire, and where to complete each.
All Volunteers MUST complete:
1. PMHA & Hockey Canada Volunteer Registration:
o Complete every season for all volunteer roles.
2. RNC Criminal Records Check (CRC) & Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC):
o Expires every three (3) seasons.
o Volunteers must upload the PMHA Volunteer Letter when applying, to waive the fee and ensure clearance is sent directly to PMHA.
o We do NOT accept copies of RNC checks received for other organizations.
o Recommendation: Apply early!
3. Hockey NL Screening Application:
o Expires every three (3) seasons.
4. *NEW COURSE THIS SEASON*
“The Shift Forward: Welcome to Hockey/Hockey Culture”
o Required by ALL NEW coaches and rostered staff.
o PMHA will also require ALL returning Head Coaches and Managers to complete the course this season.(*More details below)
*The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture was recently launched by Hockey Canada, as the new home for national education and training courses. For the 2025-26 season, Hockey NL is one of five Member Branches partnered with Hockey Canada to introduce the program’s content.
Hockey Canada Coaching Clinics:
• Required coaching clinics vary based on divisions, teams, roles and for Head vs. Assistant Coaches.
o Learning Lab Online Clinics will begin to open on August 1, 2025.
o To view the list of scheduled online and in person clinics, and to register:
Junior Coaches:
• Must be at least 13 years of age and registered as a player with PMHA.
• No training/courses required.
• Must wear helmet with cage, neck guard, gloves, stick, skates and track suit while volunteering.
Reimbursements:
• Course fees must be paid by the attendee, to be reimbursed by PMHA upon completion of course, for courses required of a volunteer’s role.
o Receipt showing proof of payment.
o Proof of certification/completion of course.
• Deadline to apply for reimbursements: Two weeks after the Learning Lab Clinics close for the current season.
• NOTE: This season, The Shift Forward will be reimbursed by PMHA for NEW coaches and rostered staff and returning Head Coaches and Team Managers.
